Back Pain Relief Advice From The Best Gold Coast Chiropractor - Chiropractors Gold Coast

BACK PAIN RELIEF ADVICE FROM THE TOP GOLD COAST CHIROPRACTOR Back Pain Relief Advice From The top Gold Coast Chiropractor. What to do if you have back pain: 1 ) Never ignore pain – it is a signal that your body is not coping with either a recent trauma or a buildup of tension and stress over time. All too often I see people who have “put up with” back pain for months or even years, hoping it would just go away. If pain persists more than 4 days your problems can become chronic. Seek advice from someone who specializes in finding and correcting the cause of your back pain – a Chiropractor. 2) Pain killers – these should only be taken as a short term relief of pain until you can get to see someone qualified in finding out what is going on. Long term use of pain killers can not only have harmful chemical effects but it also disguises the problem which could be getting worse without you realizing. 3) Ice or Heat?? Again either of these methods offers only a short term relief of pain unless used in conjunction with Chiropractic or physical therapy. Ice is used for acute pain, pain that is sharp or stabbing and is often linked to trauma. In these cases there is some inflammation and the cold therapy helps to reduce the amount of localized inflammation, which in turn can reduce some of the pain. Use either a flexible cold pack with a damp cloth wrapped around it or simply put some ice cubes into a damp cloth and place it over the painful area for up to 10 minutes at a time. This can be repeated every hour if needed. Heat is used for more achy or dull throbbing pain. This is often related to more chronic type injuries and the heat helps to warm up and relax the tight muscles around the affected area. 4) Anti–inflammatory drugs – recent research has found that many different types of NSAID’s have been ineffective and potentially damaging to people who take them for back pain. They may be used for short term cases where the pain is unbearable and correct specialist treatment has begun. 5) Surgery – this should always be considered as a last resort after all other options have been exhausted. Surgery is arguably the most dangerous option fpr you. In some cases, it can be the only option that provides long term relief. Chiropractic has been found to be very effective at treating back pain, and Chiropractic has an incredibly good safety record when compared with other forms of treatment for back pain Please ensure you see a qualified and registered Chiropractor.
